The short fifth-string G drone is omitted from the diagrams. Play it when G belongs to the chord or when its sound fits the arrangement; otherwise avoid it or use a fifth-string capo.

Darker chord quality used for ii, iii, and vi chords in a major key.

Major triad · minor seventh

Dominant seventh chords

Tense, driving chords that commonly resolve to a tonic one perfect fifth below. Some compact shapes omit the fifth.
